FAQ

What is a zine?

A zine (short for fanzine) is an unofficial publication produced by fans for other fans. Usually, zines include creations from artists and writers, and may be accompanied with fanmade digital or physical merchandise.

Will this zine be physical or digital?

This will be a physical SFW zine with physical merch. We will also have a digital version available.

Is this zine for-profit?

This zine will be half for-charity and half for-profit! The charity we donate to will be decided at a later date.

Who are the mods? Are they experienced?

We have a mix of mods that are very experienced in the zine scene as well as mods that are newer to the organization side of zines. Despite being newer mods, they have each been evaluated to be qualified for the position they’re in, and are familiar both with the fandom and zines. Feel free to learn about each mod here!

Who can apply?

Any artist or writer! You do not need previous zine experience to apply. However, we will only be accepting artists and writers that are 18 or older by the time by the time applications close on Nov 30th.

Can I apply for multiple positions?

Yes, you can apply for any position or multiple! However, please note that you will only be accepted for one.

How many contributors will you accept?

We will be accepting around 50 contributors, including guests!

Will traditional art be allowed?

Of course. Please make sure to submit a clean and high quality scan of your work (300dpi or higher recommended).

How will the zine mods keep in contact with contributors?

We will be using both email and Discord to send all updates and announcements regarding the zine. All accepted contributors will be expected to join the zine’s Discord server when they join the project.

How will contributors be compensated?

All contributors and staff will be guaranteed a digital PDF of the final zine. Physical compensation will depend on our sales and if we break even, although it would be ideal that we compensate every contributor with a full physical bundle.

Are collaborations between contributors allowed?

Yes! We will ask all our contributors if they are interested in collaborations when they fill out the onboarding form after being accepted.

Are other ships allowed? What about AUs or angst?

As this zine is centered around Akeshuake, we ask that if you choose to include any other ships to include them only in a way where Akeshuake remains the focus. For AUs and angst we will look over each idea on a case by case basis. However, for the sake of zine unity we do prefer that submissions don’t diverge too far from canonverse and everything has a happy ending.

Can I post my work to social media or sell it?

Absolutely. At the end of the zine’s production, your work belongs to you, so feel free to do whatever your heart desires. We just ask that all contributors hold off on posting or selling your zine work until after all the zines and merch have been shipped out.

I still have questions...
